The Problem

This Hertfordshire home had an outdated, awkward push-up loft hatch that was difficult to use and offered poor insulation. The homeowner wanted safer, easier access to the loft along with a modern hatch that would improve energy efficiency and day-to-day usability.

The Solution

Old Hatch Removal & Opening Upgrade
The Loft Lab began by removing the customer’s existing push-up trapdoor, which was not fit for modern use and allowed heat to escape. This created a clean opening ready for a new, insulated access hatch.

New Insulated Hinged-Down Loft Hatch
The Loft Lab supplied and installed a brand-new 18mm MDF hinged-down trapdoor, fitted with Airtek foil insulation and a draught-proof seal. This upgraded hatch provides a tighter thermal barrier, reduces heat loss and offers much smoother, safer operation.

Lightweight 3-Section Aluminium Loft Ladder

With the new hinged hatch in place, The Loft Lab installed a 3-section aluminium loft ladder. This ladder is lightweight, user-friendly and designed for regular household use. The smooth sliding action and stable treads ensure safe, comfortable access every time.

The Result

The homeowner now enjoys safe, reliable and energy-efficient loft access. The modern hinged hatch significantly improves insulation while the new aluminium ladder makes accessing the loft quick, simple and secure. This Hertfordshire property now benefits from a practical upgrade that enhances everyday usability and adds long-term value.
