The Problem

This London property had inadequate insulation, outdated materials and general waste stored throughout the loft. The homeowner wanted to improve energy efficiency, reduce heat loss and create a cleaner, healthier loft environment with additional thermal protection.

The Solution

Full Loft Clearance
The Loft Lab started by removing all old boarding, outdated insulation and general rubbish from the loft. This created a clean, safe and accessible workspace ready for a complete insulation upgrade.

Mineral Wool Insulation Upgrade
To bring the loft up to recommended modern standards, The Loft Lab installed 170mm of new mineral wool insulation, topping up the existing layers to achieve a full 270mm depth. This significantly improves the property’s thermal performance and helps reduce heating costs.

Airtek Foil Insulation Installation
For enhanced energy efficiency, The Loft Lab then installed Airtek foil insulation across the inside of the roof. This reflective insulation adds an extra thermal barrier, helping to keep the home warmer in winter and cooler in summer.

As an added benefit, the foil also acts as an effective dust proofer, sealing the roof space and creating a cleaner, more comfortable loft environment.

The Result
