The Problem

This London property had an unorganised and difficult-to-access loft with outdated insulation and no practical storage solutions. The homeowner needed a clean, safe and efficient way to use the loft for everyday storage.

The Solution

Full Loft Clearance
The Loft Lab began by removing all existing rubbish and old insulation, clearing the loft completely to create a clean, safe working environment.

Insulation Upgrade
We then installed 270mm of high-quality mineral wool insulation, bringing the property up to recommended modern energy-efficiency standards and helping to improve the home’s overall thermal performance.

Raised Loft Floor Installation
To create a safe and stable storage platform, The Loft Lab built a raised loft floor above the new insulation and fitted 18mm chipboard boarding across the central, most usable area. This raised system ensures insulation performance is maintained while providing a strong, level floor.

Custom-Built Loft Shelving

To further maximise storage, The Loft Lab designed and installed bespoke shelving along both sides of the loft. Using the existing roof trusses, along with 2×2 timber and 18mm chipboard, the shelves created organised, accessible storage without restricting headroom or the central walkway.
